About Newcastle University
Newcastle serves as a significant hub for education. The University of Newcastle upon Tyne was established in 1937 as King’s College through the merger of Armstrong College and the College of Medicine, both of which were part of the University of Durham. The university maintained its connection with Durham until 1963, when it received its own charter and became known as the University of Newcastle.
